Frequently Asked Questions

What is Fine Bone China?

Fine Bone China is categorised as having more than 45% animal bone within the body formulation, it is this constituent that gives fine bone china its strength and translucent qualities when combined with Cornish china clay and feldspars.

Are all your products made in the UK?

All our fine bone china pieces are made at our factory in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom 'the heart of the pottery industry' and we have been at the same factory from 1888. We source all products and components within the UK making us a fully sustainable British company.

Are your products Microwave and Dishwasher safe?

Our products are all microwave and dishwasher safe as long as there are no precious metals on the edging of the china. Please refer to the Individual microwave and dishwasher manufacturers care instructions for further reference.

Will Fine Bone China break easily?

There is always a misconception that fine bone china is a delicate product that can easily break, it is in fact one of the toughest and robust ceramic tableware and teaware products with the strength coming from the bone ash used in the body composition.

Can you help me to identify a product or pattern?

If you need help in identifying an older piece of our fine bone china that is no longer available we will endeavour to assist you, please be aware that with over 130 years of history we don't have a full pattern archive that we can go back too unfortunately.

Do you offer a valuation service?
